Transformations: Landscape Garden to Garden Cemetery,by Professor James Stevens CurlOn Saturday 19th August, Friends of Spital Cemetery will be celebrating 160 years since Chesterfield built its first public cemetery at Spital, a garden cemetery and the second in Derbyshire. In the evening our guest speaker Professor James Steven Curl has come over from Dublin to be with us. Professor Curl has established an international reputation for scholarship and thorough investigation in little known fields of which ‘The Garden Cemetery Movement’ is one.
