This is a Grade II listed building, subject to recent reappraisal by former society Chairman, who thinks that only one wall may be a remnant of the actual Ebenezer Smith casting house.

The plaque is not a Civic Society one and unfortunately the building has fallen into a much worse condition than in this set of photographs taken around 2017.

A community interest company has taken over the building, with a temporary roof added in the autumn of 2023. This property is on our buildings at risk list where you can read a little more about its history.
