Heritage Open Days 2023

We have fully updated our Heritage Open Days (HODs) Page, listing local events. You can access this revised page by clicking on the link here.

We haven’t been able to coordinate activities this year, but it is very pleasing to see plenty of local entries.

Running from 8-17 September 2023, with a focus on local events, Heritage Open Days (HODs) is England’s largest festival of history and culture, bringing together over 2,000 local people and organisations, and thousands of volunteers. Every year in September, thousands of people come together across England to celebrate their heritage, community and history. Stories are told, traditions explored, and histories brought to life. It’s your chance to see hidden places and try out new experiences – and it’s all free.

You can also visit the national HODs on-line events directory here to see the latest information. Please be aware that some events may require pre-booking – for further details see the on-line events directory.

The civic society has no say on which properties are opened or events held.
